With Labor Day upon us, I can’t help getting excited about the cooler weather, updating my closet with the latest fall fashions, and of course football season! Cooler weather also inspires me each year to help my clients revamp their outdoor living and dining spaces.

To me, Labor Day signifies the end of summer which at first can seem a little depressing (I live for summer months and despise cold weather!)… BUT I’m choosing to focus on the positives! Luckily, here in the Lowcountry, we’re fortunate enough to have summer-like weather well into October. This means now is the time to get back outside and actually ENJOY your outdoor dining area or breakfast nook. My back deck has been neglected these past few months during the sweltering heat waves. Now is the perfect time for a mini backyard makeover!

A few outdoor throw pillows here, a Dash & Albert outdoor rug there, new dinnerware or placemats for your teak table, and VOILA! You’re ready to host an end of summer backyard bash or football tailgate kickoff party!

Labor Day also represents the “Back to School” season for most of us which can be a little less exciting at times…. Who really wants to trade in those lazy summer sleep-in mornings for early morning car pools and school bells?! However, you can certainly find ways to make the best of a hectic schedule by adding fun, new elements to your work space or home office.

One of my personal favorite ways to unwind from the craziness…Boating! After the madness of the sale ends this Saturday, you’ll likely find some of us designers out relaxing in the Charleston Harbor somewhere. Happy Labor Day Y’all!
