Our Favorite Designers Around the World

Living Room Inspo

No matter where you are in the world, there are interior designers who have created magic in the spaces around you. From the furniture you’re sitting on to the paintings that adorn the walls of your office or favorite hotel, an interior designer has likely been there to leave their mark. The field of interior design is broad and varied and includes knowledge of furniture, art, architecture, engineering, and everything in between. However, it can come into focus quite quickly once you define your specific style and tastes.

We are constantly seeking inspiration from designers around the world that align with our style ethos here at GDC. Below, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite designers at the moment so that you, too, can join in their appreciation.

Angie Hranowsky

Angie Hranowsky

A local to Charleston, Angie Hranowsky shares her eclectic Southern style with her clients across the United States. She’s known for blending organic textures like linen upholstery and jute rugs with hand-painted wallpapers and coastal accents. Often, you’ll find beautiful warm wood details, from floors to furniture, in homes designed by Angie. She’s also no stranger to color, embracing the rainbow with vibrantly colored walls, draperies, and cabinets to create a jewel-box effect.

India Hicks

India Hicks

India Hicks is an incredibly gifted British interior designer, writer, and television presenter currently living in the Bahamas. The daughter of famed interior designer David Hicks and the goddaughter of Prince Charles, India always had a knack for design and taught herself the industry without formalized training. Her design style is relaxed, yet stylish, befitting her chic island lifestyle. Be sure to look up the tablescapes she has designed – they are the ultimate in alfresco dinner party sophistication.

ellie cullman

Ellie Cullman

With a refined style, Ellie Cullman’s designs are the perfect inspiration for those wanting to embrace a more old-school design aesthetic. Her company, Cullman and Kravis Associates operates out of a Madison Avenue office, but Ellie works on homes throughout the states. A master at blending form and function, Ellie lets her clients’ personalities shine through in every project. There is no hint of minimalism or monotony in her work: colors pop, patterns dance, and metallics shimmer. To be sure, Ellie’s interiors are highly sought after and she has been featured in Elle Décor as well as other top design publications.

Mark D Sikes

Mark D. Sikes

With clients like Reese Witherspoon, Mark D. Sikes has become synonymous with an all-American design style. While he grew up in the South and Midwest, he is now soaking up the sun from his Hollywood Hills home. Mark’s style spans multiple periods and he prefers to play with scale as well as textures to keep a space feeling lived-in and laid-back. Wondering how to recognize one of his projects? Look for his signature design elements of wicker, blue and white, plants, and gingham.

Beata Heuman

Beata Heuman

With bold patterns and global accents, up-and-coming designer Beata Heuman has an innate ability to create warmth and balance throughout her designs. She hails from Sweden but makes her home in London, where she initially worked under Nicky Haslam. There’s something inherently playful in every space Beata designs, owing to the explosion of color, irreverent artwork, and thoughtful positioning of furniture. Yet, her designs are also timeless and nostalgic in that they seem to recall earlier eras as they merge cultures together.
