Welcome Fall with these Front Porch Decor Ideas

Front Door

It’s a Southern tradition to decorate your front porch for fall and not only is it fun, but it brings an autumnal spirit to your neighborhood that will last for the next few months. Adding some festive fall front porch decor is simple, yet so rewarding as you embrace the vibrant colors and cozy textures of the season. From classic accents like pumpkins on the steps to more elaborate wreaths and light displays, there are plenty of ways to give fall a warm welcome on your front porch.

Here are our favorite fall front porch decor ideas to celebrate the harvest season in style.

Pumpkins as front porch decor

Pumpkin Steps

There’s nothing new about setting pumpkins on your porch steps, but it truly never fails to bring happiness to our hearts in the fall. If you’re wanting to think slightly outside the box this year, consider going with an all-white theme using chic white pumpkins instead of standard jack-o-lanterns. Another fun idea is to create pumpkin towers out of stacked pumpkins with carved faces or paintings. You can put a tower on either side of your front door to create symmetry.

Cozy Seating Area

Just because temperatures are dropping, that doesn’t mean you can’t still spend time on your front porch. Make the area cozy by adding fuzzy pillows and throws, like our Oulu Throw in Moss that can be brought inside after use. You can also set up some baskets on your porch to hold the pillows and blankets when they are not in use as well as add texture.

A Festive Glow

As we start to get closer to Halloween, you’ll see plenty of examples of lanterns, candles, and hanging lights adorning your neighbors’ homes. Lean into this autumnal trend by adding the glow of unique lighting options, like string lights, to your porch or outdoor space.

Fall Flower Arrangement

Autumnal Foliage

Mother Nature provides a beautiful array of colors in the fall and we plan to make the most of them. Some ideas include setting out planters with golden or burgundy mums, stacking hay bales next to your door, or decorating with dried corn stalks. A seasonal wreath, whether made by you or picked up at a local florist, is another way to decorate your front door, columns, or railings in fall’s most beautiful foliage.
