I just wanted to share this wonderful little bit with you all. The Hero Project, run by Deborah Meyer. Deborah travels to several schools and works with several after school programs in the area, mainly with 3rd-5th graders. The children create 3D Hero Puppets and then the story about their Hero!!
These children work with their hands, use their imaginations, and tell a story in any written form that moves them, poetry, rap, cartoon…. Deborah calls it a “cross curricular activity” Children are asked to consider what makes a hero and who the hero is within themselves. A very important lesson for all of us.
GDC is lucky enough to help a little by donating fabrics to the program. We are thrilled to be a part of something so much bigger. This is real Hero work Deborah! Thanks for all you do! Deborah is looking for young volunteers to help out with this project.
