The upholstery is a trend in its own right, and it changes how the bed behaves in the room. Linen, textured cotton, and performance weaves absorb light instead of bouncing it back, so the headboard reads soft rather than solid. It’s also a comfortable place to lean with a book or a cup of coffee.
Detail is where these get interesting. Some are quiet, with a low arch and a single welt. Others carry nailhead trim or a beaded wood frame around a linen panel, which reads a little more traditional while staying understated.
