party time

July 22, 2011

Everyone needs a little play time mixed in with hard work.  GDC took last night to celebrate our fabulous staff by throwing our annual summer party on Isle of Palms.  We gave away a flat screen TV, gift certificates to Target, Whole Foods, Cinebarre and Cactus Car Wash.   In the week leading up to the party, we held a vote for GDC Superlatives, such as "most likely to sleep for 18 hours in one stretch" and "most likely to be wearing a bunny costume for no reason".  Ironically, this picture was taken of Todd about an hour and a half before he found out he won the sleepy award...

Clearly the staff knows our accountant well.

We had to have a pair of bunny ears to present the winner of "most likely to be caught wearing a bunny costume for no reason", and surely enough, Allen wore them proudly.

GDC's owner, Harry Gregorie, was voted "most likely to cross the street without looking both ways", and Mount Pleasant's manager won "most likely to talk her way out of a speeding ticket".  It was a close race between two of our front desk staff for "most likely to be carrying hand sanitizer".  Good to know those running the registers are germ free!  Cornhole, horse shoes and bocce entertained guests, and the ocean view wasn't too bad either.

The highlight of the party was the arrival of 6 week old Julian.  What a cute baby he is!  He especially loved Gil, and sat on his lap contentedly examining everything (and everyone) around him.  Of course there was a lot of "ooey gooey goo goo!" to be heard nearby.  Something about the presence of newborns makes us do that... or was that the wine talking?

Can't wait to do it again next year!
